Polymers are the main foundation stone of rubbers wich has the basis importance for the human life.Beside the natural polymers like silk, wool or cellulose ; there is known also miscellaneous synthetic polymers named polyester, nylon , PTFE, synthetic rubber etc.
Today , there are approx.30.000 kinds of polymers in the world , in this respect , they have considerable role for the human prosperity from space equipments , electronic , textile , medicine to home products.
Christophus Columbus probably was the first European , seeing natural rubber on the second voyage to Haiti , while the natives playing the ball made of elastic resin. But the first scientic nomenclaturness for rubber came from a French scientist La Condamine during his voyage to America. La Condamine wrote that natives named this material `heve` and obtaining from a kind of liquid by split of tree similer to milk.
ondamine also inform that the Amazonas call this tree `Cau-o-chu`. Caa means wood and o-chu, crying; thus mean crying tree. This word used as `gauche`in Spanish; `gaouchou` in French; `kautschuk` in German. İn English the word `rubber` derives from the verb `rub off` means erasing the pencil marks by rubbing.
NR (NATURAL RUBBER) :
It is used between the temparatures –60’C and 100’C and recommended in applications where high flexibility is required.
FKM-FLOUREL (VITON):
Keeps ists elasticity between –30’C and +225’C. It has a good resistance against many chemicals.
NBR ( NITRILE) :
Nitrile (NBR) is a Butadiene-Acrylo Nitrile (ACN) is a polymer. Standart nitrile compound is reccommended to be used between –30’C and +105’C. For period of application it can be increased to +120’C.
PU (POLYURETHANE) :
It has a durability against rupture, tear and wearing out in the temparatures between -30’C and 100’C.It resistance to mineral oils and aliphatic hydrocarbon is good.
SILICONE :
Keeps its elasticity between -60’C and 200’C. It has a good resistance against atmosphere, ozone and lubricants.
CR (NEOPREN) :
It has a great resistance to rupture, to tear and to wearing out between the temparatures –45’C and 100’C. Its resistance against mineral oils with high aniline point and alcohole is good.
EPDM (ETHYLENE-PROPYLENE DIENE RUBBER) :
The temperature range is -40’C and 145’C.It has resistance against break fluids and steam.
SBR (STYRENE BUTADIEN RUBBER ) :
Between the temperatures -50’C and 100’C its resistance against glycol based brake fluids, inorganic and organic acids and alcohole is good.
